Colour is a very important element when it comes to styling. For example, when I’m colouring a client’s hair, I usually choose the colour palette according to their personality. It could be that they have an energetic personality or that they may want to stand out from the crowd – the colours for their makeup and hair have to be selected accordingly. With the season changing, you can expect to see mauve and burgundy colour palettes and lighter tones of blonde, such as ash blonde. The falsa purple is also going to be coming back this autumn/winter.

At home, I have used a lot of white and grey. We try and change the upholstery seasonally, and we just had the laminate for the floor changed to 5-6 shades of grey. I add splashes of colour to my living space with paintings. All the paintings in my house have a lot of colour in them – mostly primary colours such as red, yellow and blue. I think one’s living space needs to be inspiring and colourful.

People usually think that in order to bring a change, you need to do something drastic but that is not the case. You could just change the colour of one wall in you house or place a brightly coloured piece of furniture amongst more conservative pieces and that could change your perspective about life or bring about a change in your mood and how you feel about life.
